operations in Afghanistan, Kosovo, Macedonia, Bosnia, Panama and the

07-15-08 - We have returned from Thrillerfest! It was an amazing experience that allowed us to network with authors along with other publishers, giving us a truly unique experience at our first appearance. Stuffed into four days, we attended many panels featuring these amazing authors allowing us to look into their worlds, each showing us a different facet of what helped them succeed (and it’s no wonder why they all have become so successful!). A few panels included spotlights on Clive Cussler and Brad Thor. Also included were panels on many of the different genres included in the Thriller genre (conspiracy theory, action/adventure, historical, and young adult to name a few). The list of authors met includes: James Rollins, Brad Thor, Clive Cussler, Lee Child, Michael Palmer, William Martin, Thomas Greanias, Barry Eisler, Steve Berry, Jay Bonansinga, David Angsten, Robert Gregory Browne, Matt Bronleewe, and Robert Liparulo.
As quickly as it came and went, it will return next year back in NYC at the Grand Hyatt. By then, we will have reached our one year mark and hope to be more a part of the festivities, not just faces in the crowd. We will have published books like Steve Alten’s highly anticipated MEG 4 and rising star Jeremy Robinson’s mass market publication of his smash POD hit ANTARKTOS RISING, along with his newest Variance title KRONOS. 06-16-08 - ITW Member! Variance has just been accepted by the International Thriller Writers Organization as a member. In turn, Variance will be at ThrillerFest 2008, so be sure to stop by and say hello (who knows, maybe some of our authors will be there...).
05-08-2008 - The coup continues! Variance has just signed on Joseph Flynn, bestselling author of DIGGER. We will be publishing his newest thriller, THE PRESIDENT'S HENCHMAN, a seriously page turning political thriller.
04-28-2008 - Do you smell a coup brewing in the publishing world? We do. In short order, Variance has nabbed NY Times Bestselling author, Steve Alten, beating out mega-corporate publishers and signing book four in Alten's MEG series: MEG - HELL'S AQUARIUM.
But wait, that's not all. The coup plot thickens as we have also signed on International Bestseller, Steven Savile and his newest novel, SILVER. Savile is a #1 bestseller in the U.K. and we have no doubt we yanks will like him just as much.
04-15-2008 - Variance has officially formed as a new publisher with offices in Arkansas. Our first act as a company was the acquisition of Breakneck Books, a fantastic small press with an amazing line-up of books. We are proud to be taking on Breakneck as our first imprint and making the titles available to physical bookstores (they were previously only available online via print-on-demand publishing).
Through the process of taking over Breakneck Books we have been able to sign a three book deal with Jeremy Robinson, bestselling author and Breakneck Book's owner. But don't let his ownership of the company fool you, Robinson has a second three book deal with Thomas Dunne books and his novel, Antarktos Rising, due out this summer from Variance is being made into a feature length film. We're proud to be a part of building his sky-rocketing career even further.
